1335MABINI proudly presents Ian Jaucian in a solo exhibition titled “Emit no Evil” from September 19 to October 16, 2015.

First you must have faith in an eternal world independent of you; then you must have faith in your ability to perceive it, and finally you must try to explain it by means of concepts or mathematical constructions…You must believe that the world was created as a unified whole which is comprehensible to man. Ian Jaucian continues to fuse his coinciding interests in art, science, and technology through a new set of works that examine the structures and dynamics of spatial and temporal dimensions of physical reality. Jaucian cogitates on scientific theories – in relation to spacetime – and creatively represent and reconfigures these principles of modern physics through an assembly of paintings, kinetic sculptures, and interactive installations.

Ian Jaucian (b.1986) is a Filipino visual artist based in the Philippines. In 2008 he graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman College of Fine Arts cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Painting. He draws much of his inspiration from science, exploring its relationship with visual art through various traditional and technological media. He has participated in several artist residencies in different countries, such as the Pulau Ubin Artist-in-Residence Programme in Singapore (2013) and the Akiyoshidai International Art Village Residence Support Program in Japan (2014). Jaucian is also currently one of the 12 shortlisted artists for the 2015 Ateneo Art Awards.
