BS1 Talks takes on some of the sticky questions that plague a significant number of artists whether they are fresh off art school, in mid-career, or are fully embedded in the wealth generating mechanisms of the artworld.Some of the points to be posed are:What are the range of options open to artists presently in regard to critically engaging or wholly submitting themselves to the commerce of art?How might artists negotiate agency amidst real concerns for sustainability or the admittedly human concerns of daily keep?How are the ethics underlining the ‘consumption’ of art constructed?How are these challenged, redefined, undermined?In what degrees/amidst which platforms would it be possible to pursue the practice of art while attempting a measure of integrity vis-à-vis the presumed compromises involved in transactions of interest within the market?
